First Update of the year from thaniel

dear everyone


this is the first update in awhile, and the first update of the year. this year i already have two shows scheduled, and im working on three others. the first show of the year will be a group show in Falmouth, Cornwall, UK, the show is called Resound, and it will be the first time i have shown any of my sound art, and the second scheduled in showing of my work will be a NTY split show with my good friend maiza hixson. my end of the show will consist of around 15 drawings and other works i have constructed over the last year and a half, and will be my first serious showing of my non-conceptual work/drawings i have done in over 5 years.
 im also working on a short book of drawings that will hopefully be available this june. it will consist of around 30 drawings plus some text, and will be in an edition of 50, and one of my drawings will be on the LP version of a record by the band soft cheque. also.....people have been ask me to talk about/show people how i make my work so i decided to make this video

hey everyone

it looks like ill be doing a show of my automatic drawings/water colors  this october. these works are the type of works ive been secretly doing for years, but only recently decided to show/make public.  im also going to be in a tree based show in may, itll be in an alternative space and ill email you more info when i get it.

one day i want to do a conceptual art work that involves a mix cd that has as many covers of joy divisions 'love will tear us apart' in it as i can find, and ill call it 'everything you love they will tear apart'

so far i have found 99 covers of the song.

My music on itunes

there is a little known fact that i also make music, ive been making electronic music for almost nine years, and i have recently decided to make some of it available on itunes. the first thing i have released, and is currently available in ITUNES is a 6minutes 38second single called weekender. its a dance track that has both techno, and industrial elements in it...so, if you have 99cents and itunes just type in thaniel ion lee, and check it out. in about 2 weeks or so it will also be available on napster, amazonmp3 , and rhapsody. -t

two ideas

work 001] endurance work for dancing

in this work ill explorre not only my own body, but other people
expectations of what a body like mine can and cannot do. between two
set times for around 3 or so hours i will dance almost nonstop. the
music will mostly be 80s and 90s dance music, i will be dressed in a
suit, and the dance floor will be constructed out of a large rug. the
work will be documented and then projected in the room that the work
was performed in.


work 002] all your questions will be answered version two

in this work i will be doing a live version of a web work that i did
that involved me answering any question no matter how personal or
mundane that people had either about being disabled or about anything
at all. the live version of this work will involve me sitting behind a
desk in a mostly empty room every work day of the week for 15 business
days. again i will be in a suit, ill be sitting behind a standard
desk, and the questions and answers will be documented and placed
either on the wall/s of the room or archived in a data bases that will
be available to the public.
